Countdown to Camp 2012

Welcome to camp!

HUG Camp is for pre-teens and teens where God Helps Us Grow memories and friendships that last forever! In addition to growing our relationship with God and each other, there are loads of activities to choose from, such as: archery, flag football, climbing wall, adventure course, wood working, volleyball, fun with science, dance, arts and crafts, tennis, ultimate frisbee, and much more. There’s plenty of beach time on our beautiful Lake Michigan beach with a shaving cream extravaganza on Friday afternoon for those who enjoy that kind of thing! Each evening is busy with camp-wide events including skit night, climbing Mt. Baldy, s’mores around the campfire, ice cream social, to name a few. HUG Camp is such an awesome experience that 2/3s of our volunteer staff are former campers who love doing all that they can to ensure that our youth continue to enjoy camp for years to come! We definitely encourage campers to bring their friends too.

Mini-Overnight YMCA Trip

Our annual Hug Camp Mini Overnight will be March 3, 2012 this year. Please join us as the kids really do like to reconnect with all of you as well as the friends they have made at camp each year.

I must have a signed YMCA waiver from those of you that are attending along with $25 person. Please plan on spending the night. Anyone that is planning on staying for just the evening will also need to pay $25 to help cover for pizza and the lifeguards that need to be hired. You do not need to fill out the permission slip.

Pines 3

Here are more pictures of the demolition of Pines 3 by awesome volunteers from Peace Memorial Church UCC in Palos Park. The cabin area looks so much smaller without walls, I think. The cost to build the bathhouse with most of the work done by volunteers is estimated at $30,000. It will be hooked up to city water instead of the camp well water which should help with water pressure.
